Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventories

CJSC “Uglemetan Service” has extensive experience in international projects and programs in which they have prepared estimates of GHG emissions and developed project documentation for the emission reductions from extraction and utilization of coal mine methane in Russia.

Our organization can produce an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the “Guidelines and guidance to quantify greenhouse gas emissions by organizations performing economic and other activities on the territory of the Russian Federation”, namely:

Develop methods and software for inventory and greenhouse gas monitoring,
Establish quantifiable boundaries of greenhouse gas emissions,
Draw up a list of the sources of direct and indirect emissions of greenhouse gases and their classification by source category,
Quantify greenhouse gas emissions for a certain time period,
Present the results of the quantitative determination of greenhouse gas emissions over the reporting period,
Draw up the registry of greenhouse gas emission sources,
Develop a strategy and program of activities, leading to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over the reporting period,
Evaluate the results of these measures in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and
Assess the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

As part of the work Uglemetan would examine the structure of the enterprise and its subdivisions, the boundaries of the organization designated in accordance with the standards ISO 14064-1: 2006, and take into account the peculiarities of the enterprise operations, and perform the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions based on the IPCC methodology (IPCC, 2006).

In assessing the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions the potential energy saving measures and energy efficiency are considered while keeping in mind the following criteria:

reduction of specific emissions per unit of production;
transparency in terms of reduction of greenhouse gas emissions;
Forecasting conservation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the first commitment period and during the lifespan of the event;
forecasting the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, while definitiing measures which would reduce emissions.
The inventory of greenhouse gas emissions in the baseline approach allows you to get information about the volume of emissions in various industries and sectors of economic activity, including specific enterprises and facilities. The GHG inventory data that are obtained constitute the framework that identifies the investment potential for the investigated companies from reducing GHG emissions, identifying specific points of focus, while giving an objective picture of the effectiveness of proposed investments.
